18yr old Beambox Founder: Callum Short

What does “Beambox” mean to you? and how did you decide on the name?

I honestly cannot remember. I think beam was in the association to rays and wireless technology, box is of course in reference to the device itself

Can you explain what Beambox is for us in one sentence?

Beambox allows businesses to use their free WiFi to track customers and automate marketing.

How many of you are on the Beambox team?

I’m running the show. I do have a great marketer working alongside me to manage PR, investors and social outreach. We’re big into workforce efficiency and utilising outsourcing when possible.

Could you give us some background on who you are and your past accomplishments?

I’m 18 years old, I’ve had my foot in entrepreneurial projects from a very young age. Because of my age, I saw technology as the quickest path to start creating commercial value. I’ve been programming since I was 11, at the age of 16 I started working commercially as a programmer. At 17 I won the IFA global entrepreneurs competition multi-site marketing localisation concepts.

How many hours a week do you spend on Work? What about family/hobbies?

I don’t count. I’m currently living on my own with no family in the same region so I’m working from the minute I wake up until the minute I go to sleep. It balances itself out because while there is a lot of hard work, when I make sales and hit milestones, it gives me more pleasure than any leisure activity would.

What differentiates you from competition?

We’re compact and have a winning vision. There is no other competitor at the same level as Beambox, with as few employees and expenses as we have. Our vision is different and our current customers love it.

What are You truly passionate about?

I’ve always found this to be a hard question, there’s not one thing I can put my finger on and attribute all of my work to. I’m motivated by significance and creating something which people want
